Keratin Hair Treatment Guide

A keratin hair treatment is a professional smoothing service designed to reduce frizz, improve shine and make hair more manageable. It works by applying a specialised keratin‑rich formula that helps smooth the hair cuticle and strengthen the hair from within, resulting in smoother, softer hair with reduced styling time.

Keratin is a natural protein found in hair. During a keratin treatment, a formulated solution containing keratin and other conditioning agents is applied to the hair and sealed with heat, using a straightening iron.

 Keratin smoothing is suitable for most hair types, including:

• Frizzy, unruly hair

 Keratin treatments:

• Are not permanent and last 3-6 months depending on treatment

• Will not always make tight curls fully straight

• Do not permanently change the hair structure

Before your appointment:

• Consultation and hair assessment via Zoom video call

• Pre wash shampoo carried out by client at home before the appointment(shampoo can be picked up if local to Windsor or sent by post)

• Rough dry hair after washing

During the appointment:

1. Hair is sectioned and keratin formula applied

2. Product processes for between 10 to 40 minutes depending on formula used

4. Straightening iron is used to seal in the product

5. Treatment process is complete 

After treatment:

  • Leave hair for 2 hours, then rinse at home, apply mask and rinse again(do not get hair wet before the 2 hours, don't clip or tie hair up)

• Style hair as usual and follow aftercare advice

• Reduced frizz

• More manageable hair

• Softer, silkier texture

• Use sulfate‑free shampoo and conditioner

• Keep hair protected when swimming in chlorinated or salt water 

• If colouring hair wait two weeks after Keratin treatment

• Wash less frequently for longer results
